This is a nationally recognised accredited qualification which aims to demonstrate and assess the competence of the operator to safely and correctly control rats, mice, rabbits, grey squirrels and moles using a variety of techniques including poisons.

The Qualification

The Qualification includes recognition of damage caused by a specific pest, typical habitats, nature and source of pest infestation at a particular site, carrying out a risk assessment and demonstration of a variety of control of methods. The Qualification is divided into five compulsory units:  

Unit 1 – Reasons for controlling vertebrate pests and responsibilities under legislation.

Unit 2 – Characteristics of chosen species.

Unit 3 – Site survey.

Unit 4 – Control methods

Unit 5 – Application of Hazardous Substances for Vertibrate Pest Control.
