
Chain Saw and Related Operations
About the Qualification
These are a range of practical Qualification covering all aspects of Chainsaw work. Level 2 maintenance of the chainsaw and cutting system and cross cutting timber are the mandatory qualifications that are pre-requisite to many of the Level 2 and 3 qualifications. Once the mandatory qualifications have been achieved, learners can take further qualifications to meet the needs of their chosen career pathway.
It is a practical assessment. The Learner will be observed completing a series of tasks relevant to the qualification and the assessor will ask questions to check understanding. Integrated Assessment means that the assessment will be part of the training package. Independent Assessment means the learner will take the test on a separate occasion with an Independent Assessor who has not been involved with the training.

Brushcutter/Strimmer Operations
About the Qualification
The safe use of brushcutters, clearing saws and trimmers requires safe, skilful competent operators. This qualification assesses those requirements in the context of the candidate’s employment and also the safety of bystanders if this equipment is used in a public environment.
The qualification will also prove useful to local authorities, public utility companies and other employers in these sectors to demonstrate operator competence.

The Qualification establishes that the candidate has the relevant knowledge and understanding as well as the appropriate skill required for the competent safe use of a brushcutter, clearing saw or trimmer.
Candidates must successfully achieve:
Unit 1 which is compulsory and either
Unit 2, Unit 3 or Unit 4 which are optional

Stump Grinding Operations

The qualification requires the operator to demonstrate, in a professional manner, the relevant competence and skill to successfully prepare, operate and maintain a stump grinder.
The Assessment
The assessment is divided into 3 compulsory units:
- Prepare the stump grinder for operation
- Operate the stump grinder
- Maintain the stump grinder
Candidates must successfully achieve all assessment activities in all three units.

Brushwood Chipper Operations
