Brushcutting Operations

The safe use of brushcutters, clearing saws and trimmers requires safe, skilful competent operators. This qualification assesses those requirements in the context of the candidate's employment and also the safety of bystanders if this equipment is used in a public environment.

The qualification will also prove useful to local authorities, public utility companies and other employers in these sectors to demonstrate operator competence.

The Assessment

The Assessment establishes that the candidate has the relevant knowledge and understanding as well as the appropriate skill required for the competent safe use of a brushcutter, clearing saw or trimmer.

The Assessment is divided into four units:

Unit 1 - Maintain the brushcutter/Clearing Saw/Trimmer

Unit 2 – Operate a Brushcutter

Unit 3 – Operate a Clearing Saw

Unit 4 – Operate a Trimmer

Candidates must successfully achieve:

Unit 1 which is compulsory and either

Unit 2, Unit 3 or Unit 4 which are optional

About the Qualification

 

The certification is designed specifically to meet the needs of industry and relevant legislation. The industry requires technically competent, skilled, safe chain saw operators who can deliver a high standard of quality work consistently.

Maintain and operate the Chainsaw – Maintenance of the Chainsaw

Maintain and operate the Chainsaw – Onsite Preparation and Basic Crosscutting

Module 1- one registration

Fell and Process Small Trees 200mm – 380mm

NPTC Registration - £28.50. If both CS30 & CS31 units are taken together then the cost is £140 p/p for the assessment & NPTC is £72.50.

Use of a Chainsaw from a Rope and a Harness

£65 per person for the Assessment.
NPTC Registration - £28.50. CS38 & CS39 can be taken together at a cost of £130.00 per person and the NPTC registration fee in this instance would be £58.50

Stump Grinding Operations

About the Qualification

The qualification requires the operator to demonstrate, in a professional manner, the relevant competence and skill to successfully prepare, operate and maintain a stump grinder.

The Assessment

  • Prepare the stump grinder for operation
  • Operate the stump grinder
  • Maintain the stump grinder

Brushwood Chipper Operations

About the Qualification

The qualification requires the operator to demonstrate, in a professional manner, the relevant competence and skill to successfully prepare, operate and maintain a brushwood chipper.
